Regional Scrutiny Board

The Assembly delegates management of its scrutiny responsibilities to the Regional Scrutiny Board (RSB). The Regional Scrutiny Board meets 4 times per year and is chaired by Martin Traynor, a representative from East Midlands Business Forum. There are 15 members on the Regional Scrutiny Board, two-thirds local government Members and one-third Economic, Social and Environmental Partners.

 

Representatives of East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and Government Office for the East Midlands also attend RSB meetings and RSB members have the opportunity to discuss relevant issues with them in the meeting.

 

A key role of the RSB is to oversee the system of Scrutiny Reviews, approving their terms of reference, interim key issues and final reports. emda share with the RSB reports on their implementation of the recommendations of scrutiny reviews and their impact.

 

emda report to the RSB on various topics to a schedule determined in the Assembly’s Business Plan.

 

The Regional Scrutiny Board receives ‘standing’ reports on a regular basis including emda’s Chief Executive and performance report and the progress of Regeneration East Midlands.
