J H Walter

JHWalterhas recently extended its sphere of activities by developing services within the planning department and establishing a Sustainable Resource Management division (SRM).

The SRM team is experienced in low and zero carbon technologies, renewables and eco-build technology (including recycled materials), as well as improving resource efficiency and minimising waste within the countryside and workplace.

We have detailed knowledge of energy management and those involved have broad, practical and personal experience of renewable energy technologies and their successful implementation and are able to guide clients, businesses and individuals with authority.

SRM provides consultancy and training in sustainable development, countryside and resource management, renewable energy and sustainable building design. In addition we also link social enterprise and communities to the core issues of countryside and resource management.

The team’s Principal Consultant is Nigel Lowthrop with additional input from Environmental Planner Steve Catney and Project Manager Magz Knight. David Wright who heads up SRM and the JHWalter Planning team, brings his experience in dealing with strategic planning opportunities, funding and rural development.

Nigel will be known to many for his remarkable achievements at Hill Holt Wood, to the south of Lincoln. Here, he has transformed a 35 acre wood into the base of a significant social enterprise business with offices and workshops, and now a residential dwelling. The buildings are designed to be very low impact in both their construction and operation, are off the grid and completely self-sustaining. Nigel’s time is also committed to national issues and is called upon by government to advise on sustainability and social enterprise.

In addition to specialist consultancy work, SRM offers a workshop and seminar program along with organising a major conference encompassing the themes of Environmental Sustainability, Social Sustainability, Economic Sustainability and Sustainable Building Design (9th January 08). We aim to inform and assist those involved in land ownership and development in respect of sustainable development opportunities, as well as anyone who wishes to broaden their knowledge and improve their own sustainable living, whether personally or through business.
