At Bee BeeDevelopments we are focused on delivering growth in North Northants whilst addressing the issues of the green agenda and developing communities where sustainable living is present in people’s homes, at people’s work, when people travel and in their leisure and lifestyle choices.
Our new developments will meet the standards set out in the Governments’ Code for Sustainable Homes, attracting homeowners who aspire to living in a low carbon community. Alongside new developments, the drive to improve existing homes and buildings is essential to reducing the region’s carbon footprint.
At Bee Bee we are keen to promote schemes and education projects to improve home efficiency and green living. One such project in which we are involved is the development of a learning program for 11-14 year olds called ‘Citizenship for Sustainability’.
This is designed to prepare students for tomorrow’s low carbon, resource efficient world as well as promoting the issue of sustainability within schools and the wider community. This academically robust curriculum project has been instigated and funded by Bee Bee Developments and delivered by experts at Bishop Stopford school in Kettering - pioneering a national educational asset for the future.
In conjunction with delivering ‘green’ sustainable housing, our low carbon developments provide an opportunity to link these developments with renewable energy schemes and increase the region’s self sufficiency in terms of energy generation. At Bee Bee we believe that these new developments should be designed so that recyclables and waste materials can be collected efficiently and cost effectively. A harmonised waste collection method will be developed across the region, in order to maximise recycling and the reuse of resources whilst reducing household confusion towards recycling and maximising the best use of finite resources.
Pulse Park Business Park
With a growing population comes the necessity for more jobs. Our proposed PulseParkBusinessPark for the entire region but located to the north of Wellingborough, for example, goes some way to solving this problem. The proposal includes an environmentally exemplary B1 site (Carbon Positive) giving the potential for graduate level employment in a green and sustainable environment.
Not only will PulsePark attract significant employers to the region, it is designed to the highest specifications of energy and resource efficiency standards, with on-site renewable energy generation and a low energy transport infrastructure to connect and attract a highly skilled and attuned local population.
Sustainable living is a lifestyle and needs to be considered at home, at work, when getting around the region and in terms of leisure and lifestyle choices. To maximise the potential of the growth in North Northants, residents must begin to look at the areas of Corby, Kettering, Wellingborough and East Northants as a single place.
A rail based transport spine known as ‘The Shuttle’ is key to maximising the economic opportunities for the region. The plan to connect Wellingborough, Pulse Park, Kettering, Corby and Rockingham Performance Park via rail with a fast, frequent and cheap service powered by a renewable energy source, connects some of the region’s key residential, commercial and leisure facilities. Supported by high quality public transport networks the shuttle gives the region a very real sustainable alternative to car travel.
These are only some of the plans and considerations that Bee Bee have made when looking at Sustainable living and the Northants growth agenda. For more information see our publications: “Growing Together” and “Winning the Carbon Challenge.”
