Having published a Regional Freight Strategy it is imperative that its policies are pursued vigorously. Accordingly there is considerable merit in promoting implementation of the Strategy through the establishment of a Regional Freight Group (EMRFG). In effect it would undertake the role of a regional Freight Quality Partnership supporting local FQPs in promoting and disseminating best practice, but should also oversee and coordinate delivery of the Strategy.
Through establishing a broadly-based partnership EMRFG, it is hoped to champion the promotion of a sustainable, efficient and integrated freight industry in the Region, strongly contributing to the delivery of key regional strategies. Essentially, EMRFG should become a powerful voice of freight in the Region.
