Behavioural Change
The Regional Assembly and its partners have been examing the role of behavioural change in helping to meet climate change and wider sustainable development objectives for some time. A number of reports have been produced:
A scoping study was commissioned in 2007 to look at the variety of projects within the region undertaking some form of behavioural change activity and to see what could be learnt from their endeavours.
This was followed up by a regional conference in May 2008 in Nottingham. This enabled stakeholders to learn more about the research findings, to meet some of the organisations that were featured and to hear about rapidly developing national policy. The 80 participants recorded personal and work-related behaviour changes and considered the drivers and barriers. They also discussed potential future areas for action and ranked these in priority order. This is all captured in the conference report.
The highest priority action, to develop a loan scheme for distributing household energy meters, is now being worked up as a regional priority action by the Regional Assembly and partners. For further information, please contact Helen Chadwick or Mike Peverill at EMRA.
