What is Sustainable Development?
Sustainable development is a long term vision to improve the quality of life for people today and in the future. This involves taking the environment, the economy and society into account when considering development and recognising and respecting their equal importance.
The East Midlands Regional Assembly is committed to improving the quality of life for people living and working in the East Midlands now and for generations to come. EMRA has put sustainable development at the top of its list of priorities and embedded it in all its regional strategies through its Integrated Regional Strategy - the East Midlands Sustainable Development Framework.
EMRA is currently involved in partnership work in a number of areas promoting sustainable development such as considering how to influence behavioural change and investigating methods to promote sustainable design and construction.
