RSS Review 2006

The East Midlands Regional Assembly, as the Regional Planning Body, must develop and keep under review the Regional Spatial Strategy (also known as the Regional Plan).  Following the approval of the first Regional Spatial Strategy in 2005, the Government ordered that it should be reviewed to bring it into line with new legislation.

The revised draft East Midlands Regional Plan was published for public consultation on 28 September 2006.  This and related documents can be found in the documents section of this website.

A Public Examination into the revised draft East Midlands Regional Plan took place from 22 May to 19 July 2007 in Leicester and Lincoln. Further information on the Public Examination can be seen on the Planning Inspectorate website. Please see the Panel Report (2MB PDF) published 28 November 2007.

On 22 July 2008, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government published Proposed Changes (3.6MB PDF) to the East Midlands Regional Plan (Regional Spatial Strategy) for public consultation.  The consultation closed on 17 October 2008. Please see the Government Office for the East Midlands website for more information.

The approved East Midlands Regional Plan was issued by the Secretary of State on 12 March 2009 (see RSS 2009 page for details).
