Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) in Leicester schools

The Eco-management and audit scheme (EMAS) is a tool for organisations to use to evaluate, report and improve their environmental performance. Leicester City Council adopted EMAS to help manage and improve its own environmental performance this has included encouraging schools within the City’s Local Education Authority to join the Council’s EMAS system.

ERN Sustainable Development Projects

Projects in the East Midlands :

The East Midlands received funding from the English Regions Network (ERN) in January 2002 to commission four projects:

 

The East Midlands is acting as the pilot region for these projects that have been selected for their applicability to all the English regions.

 

Pan Regional Projects:

 

Pan-Regional Research into Sustainable Development Frameworks (RSDFs) (May 2003). The report includes a detailed section on the approach adopted by each of the eight English regions and makes recommendations for the further development and improvement of RSDFs.

 

Pan-Regional Research into Sustainable Development Tools (June 2003). The report examines five tools in detail: action planning, sustainability appraisal, voluntary agreements, sustainability indicators and scrutiny.
