RCE - Skills Needed for a Low Carbon Economy

The shift to a low carbon economy has far-reaching educational and learning implications. The quest for the best skills and values to make this shift may be seen as a response to the considerable challenge of creating a safe, economically viable and ecologically secure future for all. The RCE East Midlands has made a good start by working with many key educational institutions, regional agencies, local authorities and businesses to focus on the learning needed for this shift. This conference will explore this challenge and how educational institutions can work with others to nurture future employees and citizens.

RCE East Midlands:

RCE East Midlands is a partnership of organisations championing education for sustainable development and global citizenship (ESD) across the region. We collaborate, research, inform, advise, promote and develop ESD activity together. By the end of the UN Decade for ESD in 2014, we want learning to be central to the vision of sustainability in the East Midlands, and sustainable development and global citizenship to be central to education and training in all sectors.
