The East MidlandsEXPO is an annual free event focusing on sustainability. It provides an opportunity to see how we can achieve our vision of a vibrant economy that values all our people and protects and enhances our environment locally and globally.

 

 

East Midlands EXPO 2009 - 'Greening the Economy'

 

 

 

Programme:

 

Below is a programme for the day detailing the various events that are happening throughout the day as well as showing which conferences and workshops are happening when:

10:00:  Eco School Awards Presentations (15 mins)


10:30:  East Midlands NTI Demonstrations (30 mins)
 
12:10 

 - 13:10pm:  Schools and Homes Energy Education Project: Solar Active
 
13:25:  The Charnwood Chilli Company - 'Chillis, uses of them and how to look after them!'


13:40:  Just Soaps


14:05:  Sandras Jams


14:30:  Witch's Garden - "An Introduction to Herbs" - the history, folklore and various uses of herbs


15:00:  English Wines (50 mins) - a talk on why climate change may make viniculture more common in the region; includes an English wines tasting

The Theme:

 

The theme for EXPO 2009 is 'Greening the Economy'. With this in mind there will be various workshops and activities based around this theme, as well as an exhibition featuring over 70 exhibitors showcasing various technologies, services, community groups, charities, businesses and innovations that are all leading the way to a more sustainable future.

The Venue:

 

The venue this year is the Walkers Stadium, Leicester. This is an excellent venue, only a short walk from the City Centre, serviced by local bus routes, and benefiting from the excellent inter-city transport links Leicester provides.
